One More Gift

The Holidays are over. Shopping is done. Life is back to its normal pace of family, work and repeats. If you look closely, you can a beautiful gift-wrapped perfectly waiting in the corner of your (mind) living room. You didn’t recognize it on Christmas day or even on New Year’s Eve when guests were all over the place. Did someone leave behind a present just for you? Should you open it? First look for a nametag to see if you can give it to the rightful owner. Upon the bright red wrap there is a green sign with “YOU” written on it. You get so excited! The wonderful magic of Christmas is not over, you have one more gift to open. You wait for the perfect time to open it, after dinner when the whole family is present. Everyone is wide-eyed with anticipation. Inside the box are four smaller boxes, all with “YOU” written on them. Everyone giggles with glee to be included in this special gift. Count to three and open the gifts at the same time. One, Two, Three… Looking inside is a Huge Promise: Ephesians 2:8 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not of yourselves, it is the GIFT of God”. God gives everyone of us the marvelous gift of salvation. We don’t earn it, work for it, or buy it; it’s a perfectly free gift that we gratefully accept. The gift is waiting for YOU!
