Of all the books ever written in history and to be written, there is only one book that is ALIVE. We can read a story and check it off our list. We can talk, debate, and ignite our imaginations with books but each time we look at it or remember it, the same thoughts, feelings and ideas come to mind. So what is different about the Bible? How is it alive? “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12). God is made up of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit speaks to the hearts of Christians. A Christian can read the Bible every day for 4 or 40 years and continually find something new that speaks to that individual. That’s what the verse means when it penetrates the soul and spirit and also judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. The words give meaning to our lives and guides us. Reading the Bible is the most important guide we have to a relationship with God.
