Walking the Talk

South Georgia is full of sugar sweet people. They carry on and on about your momma and how much they love your blouse. After spending an hour with these people you are so buttered up you can call yourself a biscuit. The next person may not get the buttered treatment. Soon enough, you find out the hard way that all the sweet talking was a performance. They do not mean a word of it. Instead of getting angry and saying something, just make a mental note not to say anything to them unless you want a rumor spread. The New Testament talks a great deal about people being genuine in the beliefs. You are either for God or not, it’s really that simple. In Romans 2: 21-23 Paul says, “you, then, who teach others, do you not teach yourself? You who preach against stealing, do you steal? You who say that people should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law”? We are all weak sinners and will mess up now and again, but our overall character should be honoring to God. The closer we get to Him, the easier it will be to make the right godly choices He directs us toward.
