South Georgia weather is extremely confusing. It’s the end of December and we are turning our air conditioning on. In a few days it will rain and we will switch to heat. Not knowing each day is crazy. We have to consult with WeatherBug to determine the day’s wardrobe. What bothers me is the fact that December is considered a winter month in this country and part of the world. I want to have winter when it’s supposed to be winter. The daily fluxuation of temperature and barometric pressure gives me a headache. Several other folks I know experience sinus issues because of this also. God tells us about a similar problem that makes Him sick. When we, as Christians, don’t make up our mind and are warm one day and cold another. Some days we praise God and have a strong relationship; then other days we deny God and refuse to communicate with Him. God says, “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth” (Revelation 3:15-16).
For God’s sake we need to be one or the other. When lukewarm Christians wearing crosses and seen in church are seen drinking, using crude language or acting in a way unbecoming a Christian, they hurt the reputation of Christ. One of the 12 disciples, Peter, was told he would deny Jesus by Jesus. Peter said there was no way he would ever deny Jesus. When the time came and Peter was asked if he knew the Jesus that had just been arrested for treason, he quickly denied knowing Him not once but three times. What was Peter afraid of? Being associated with a felon or convicted criminal was too much for him. He cared more about what folks thought about him than what Jesus felt.
