Many folks have negative thoughts about God. They believe He is angry and always ready to strike you down. He gives rules we have to follow or we will be punished. He is mean because there are people starving and dying all over the world. How could a loving God do that? How could anyone watch suffering and let it go on? If God really cared about us, why does He allow us to suffer?
I can understand these questions, but if you truly think this way you have the wrong idea about God. All the pain, disease, death and starvation we have in this world is because we live in a sinful, evil world. The ruler of this world is Satan and he thrives on corruption and death. He rather have everyone die and be in hell with him than you living on the earth with a chance of salvation. John 3:16 is the world’s most popular Bible verse, but after that is very important information we need to share also. Verse 17-18 tells us “for God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.” God provides a rescue from this evil world. He knows how bad it is and He comforts and gives peace to those who suffer, but we have a choice to be rescued or not. We don’t have to accept His rules, but they are only to keep us safe in this world, like any good Father would provide. And at any time you are ready to be rescued from this hopeless dying world, the Father is waiting with open arms. Don’t be fooled by feelings of guilt and condemnation.
