Get Off Your High Horse!

There are professionals in about every subject and field known. It’s human nature to want to be the best at something. If we don’t strive for best, why do we try? I’m thankful doctors and teachers and inventors keep trying in order to improve on their skills. We have a wonderful world filled with incredible people and ideas because we keep trying. Since the beginning of time, however, our human nature has gotten us into trouble. Eve wanted to know what it would be like to know what God knows although she and Adam were told NOT to eat fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Many folks in positions of power and control believe that they are invincible and immortal. When everything in life is going good and everyone’s happy, we have a tendency to think we have done something right and we receive all the credit. God deals directly by the laws of Moses and usually the opposite of human nature. When everything is going well, we tend to take our eyes of God. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:12 “So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!” God wants us to depend on Him for all our needs. He wants to give the rules, He wants to hold our hand through the storm and He wants us to give Him Glory for all things whether good or bad. Just remember, the higher you are, the harder you will fall.
